Estimating Permit Fees
Understanding permit fees is crucial for effective project budgeting. The Town of Huntington has established a fee structure as follows:
Application Fee: A non-refundable fee of $50 is required for all building and housing permit submissions.
Permit Fees:
- Residential Use: A base permit fee of $125.
- Commercial/Non-Residential Use: A base permit fee of $625.
- Additional fees are calculated based on the square footage of construction as per submitted plans/surveys.
- Certificate of Occupancy/Completion Fee: $62.50.

Commercial Projects: $2,000 for up to four hours of plan review.
Each Additional Hour: $250.

Unauthorized Construction or Use
Commencing construction or changing the use of a building without the necessary permits results in a penalty. The application fee for such unauthorized activities is three times the standard amount. This policy underscores the importance of obtaining proper approvals before initiating any construction or modification.
